We left about 10:00 yesterday morning from Denver in route to Estes Park. Adam
had suggested that we take a scenic way instead of the freeway. It was a great
idea! We saw some beautiful country and enjoyed the drive a lot. We
stopped at several spots to snap some pictures.
We then got to Estes Park about 2:00 and grabbed a bite to eat and did a little grocery shopping. We then had to trust Tom Tom to find the house that we had rented. After about the third turn onto a gravel road and going in and out of neighborhoods we were getting a little skeptical of Tom's Knowledge. But eventually we found it, unloaded and rested for a while. About 7:00 we headed back into town for a little sightseeing and of course ice cream for Adam!
On the way into town we noticed a gathering of cars and wondered what was going on and then we saw the excitement, there was a heard of Elk (and to input Adam's farming background) and only one bull. So of course we had to join the group of tourists, because that is what we are here.
We got into town and took these pictures along the river and then headed downtown in the hunt for ice cream. My excitement rose when we came across a Starbucks, but we had to find Adam's ice cream first. So eventually we found a little place and he got his ice cream and then we headed back to Starbucks where I got my first ever Pumpkin Spice Latte! Oh it was a little dip of heaven right here on earth. I told Adam we will have to go back and get some more of that! But enough of our food outing (I'm sure that was more than you even wanted to know).
HERE IT IS: THEN WE WOKE UP!
I woke up to Adam checking the forecast on the Internet he said that the high today was only going to be 34 and that there was a chance of snow. I automatically got excited, and then it came! The sleet, oh what wonderful ice particles hitting the ground.
SNOW!!! Oh how I love snow!! My hopes when we were planning on coming to Colorado was to get snowed in. Of course I was only half joking (get that HALF joking!). So I hurried up and got my shoes on and ran outside to take pictures. We really didn't have anything planned for today, so it worked out well. We will probably venture out this afternoon and do something, because Adam's "relaxing" time is maxed out in a couple of hours. But for a short time this morning all my dreams of vacation were fulfilled with snow and my man making me breakfast. I know you guys wouldn't believe it so here is proof.
