I AM a Farm Wife

I don't get up at 4:00 in the morning to feed any farm animals
I don't make my husband a hot breakfast every morning
I don't make my husband lunch every day

I don't know what cattle we have going to the sale barn
I don't even know how many cattle we have
I don't know what is being mowed/chopped/baled in any given month of the year

I don't know how to make a pie
I don't know how to make homemade bread
I don't know how to make a good batch of gravy

I have come to realize my husband has no sense of time, only hours of the day
I have come to realize that I will always come second to the farm
I have come to realize I will always be referred to by livestock terms

I'm OK with most of this, some of it I am even working on. What gets me through the day is that I can do this......

and this....

and this...

to make this

All by myself and my Farmer says "What a Woman" and my life is complete. The rest seems irrelevant.

Love Reese's to pieces

It has been about a month since we lost Missi. Adam has been lost without her. So we started looking for a new blue healer. When I say "we" I really mean everybody. Not just Adam and I. I think when Missi died everybody lost a member of their family. After several failed tries, we tracked one down by Cuba, MO about 2 hours away.

This is the little baby Reese. She is the newest addition to our family. She was born on my birthday! Eight weeks old exactly when we picked her up.

Adam feel in love with her right away. We know she can't fill Missi's place, but what is a family that lives in the woods without having a outside dog.

Roscoe thought differently. I think he was perfectly fine being a one dog family. This was the last time Roscoe looked at me, then stared out the window ignoring me until we stopped for dinner at McDonalds.

One big happy family. That is what we are.

This about five seconds after Reese had gotten sick. Luckily we had just stopped and Adam had rushed her outside. Like I said, one big happy family.

We then stopped at the grandparents to show our new puppy off. She was a big hit with them as well.

It was at this point Reese figured out that she was not with her family and started whinning and did not stop for twelve hours.

This is when she stopped. Just in time for her picture to be taken. This is Adam and Reese's first day of work together. The first of many. Roscoe has gotten adjusted to her as well. But that is another story for another time.

A Prom Dress Shopping We Go

Here we are first thing in the morning. Before we fully realize the day we have before us, before we could give in to hunger, crowds, exhaustion, and many other feelings we must learn to over come before the day is over. This is before a out of control hanger almost made my mom lose her eye. Honest Truth.

The day started with such hope, such promise. Our only mission, to find the perfect Prom dress for my beautiful niece. The problem started with the first store, the first dress, then the second..the third..the fourth....and so on. The problem lies with my beautiful niece. She is indecisive. Which is a horrible trait to have when you are around hundreds of dresses and hundreds of people. So the search is on..

 And on....

This was about the time of the hanger incident, and mom was gone. She needed a "break". But that would not detour the rest of us.

But after riffling through dresses, we got to see her try them on and each one of them looked amazing on her. Notice the lady in the back. She is feeling the same as we are, she needs freedom, fresh air, a stong drink. She is a mom of a girl also trying on prom dresses.

I feel in love with this dress. It spoke to me, but not to Samantha. So we tried on even more, and then it happend.......

The Dress!! That sweet, sweet dress.  That one that fought itself out of the others and stood out to be noticed.

And the crowd went wild

Until the crowd was reminded that shoes and jewelry was still needed.

XOXO - Sandi

We are Family

Living in the same town as your family is such a blessing. I love being able to get together with them and have good times. We were altogether at my sister and brother in law's house for Super Bowl Sunday.

We started last year having a Chili Cookoff within the family. The three men: Eddie, Shawn, and Scott, compete with each other for who has the best chili. I on the other hand am responsible for a Crockpot of non-chili, so that the rest of us that don't love chili can enjoy something else. Anyway Scott was the big winner this year of having the best Chili. Here he is proudly displaying his trophy.

Then the game started, so myself being the photgrapher went around taking pictures of everyone. Everyone loves having their picture taken in my family. Said only mildly sarcastically.

Since my mom was at home sick, my dad got the pleasure of having his picture taken with the granddaughters. Secretly my dad is still watching the game, while I am taking his picture..he is a sneaky one.

I went into the room that all the boys were playing in and I said "OK boys, huddle together so that I can get a picture" This little cutie yells OK! and poses and smiles..the other two, not so much

The cold shoulder from Isaac, while furiously playing .

And the seriously you are trying to take my picture look from Steven. These are the snapshots of our lives.

Roscoe's Trip to the City

Kayla had decided that she needed a puppy, so we all loaded up and went to go pick this puppy up. We took Roscoe so that he could welcome the new puppy. It was Roscoe's first big trip to the city of Springfield

After we got Brady (Kayla's Puppy) we went to PetSmart. I put Roscoe in the cart so that he could see what all was going on and I didn't have to worry about him. I mean that is what you do with children, right?

This was about a nano second before Roscoe jumped out of the cart. Luckily Kayla was standing right there and caught him, or who knows where he would have ended up. So at the point Roscoe got put on the leash, and Adam was in charge of him.

This was a whole new world for Roscoe. New smells to be smelt, new sights to be seen, and new dogs to become friends with.

Adam on the other hand was not as excited as Roscoe.

Still Searching for something great....

Maybe he has found it....

But then it was just Brady. All in all it was a great time for Roscoe and an adventure for all of us. We got many ohhs and ahhs over Roscoe and there was only a brief encounter with two large dogs that Roscoe got a little nervous. It was when they licked their lips that Adam picked Roscoe up and took him out to the car.

To the safe car, where animals are the same size.

Little Dog Syndrome

I was reading one day on the internet about something called a little dog syndrome and it caught my attention. It lists out these symptoms that your little dog might be showing. Such as, always jumping up on people, standing on their masters lap "guarding" the master, and sleeping on their master's pillow. It is a ownership that the little dog has for their owner which in turn makes the dog protective of the owner and can turn the little dog vicous. The article was very interesting. What it broke down was that you don't let a 90 lb dog jump up on you, or sit on your lap or sleep on your pillow, so you don't let a little dog do it either. Adam and I have been teasing each other back and forth that Roscoe has little dog syndrome. I think what Roscoe has is a mistaken identity of a cattle dog.

Adam asked us to go feeding with him one Sunday and Roscoe was very excited.

This is when he realized Missi was on the back and he was stuck inside and couldn't get to the cattle.

Adam has a different kind of problem..but that is not to be discussed at this time.

Little Dog or Cattle Dog? That is the question.

After feeding the cattle Adam decided that he was going to get his ole dodge going, that was an expierence all of its own. I definatly give him an "A" for trying.

And trying....We would still be there putting fuel in the carborator and fuel tank, if not for having to go to church.  Needless to say the old dodge is still sitting where it has been since last October. One of these days though..I am hopefull that I will look out at the horizon and while admiring my veiw, I won't see that beast.

This picture had a purpose when I took it, but now has a different meaning. This is the last picture that will have Missi in it. On February 1st, Missi was involved in an accident and did not make it. She was a part of the family, and had been Adam's best friend going every where with him for almost 5 years. We miss her greatly. She was a wonderful dog.
